The winning teams are EnSa (on energy savings), Investree (on natural resource management), Resiklo (recycling), Shakestop (resilience during disasters) and Wrapp (green packaging materials). Round Two was held at the DENR Environmental Management Bureau Conference Hall, a very apt venue as DENR EMB supports businesses integrate environment friendly practices through their project PEPP. The PEPP, pursuant to DENR Administrative Order 2003-14 is a DENR partnership program with industries, in cooperation with the other environment-related agencies, aimed to support industry self-regulation towards improved environmental performance.  The PEPP seeks to provide a package of incentives and reward mechanisms to industries in effective voluntary self-regulation and improved environmental performance. Dr Volker Steigerwald, Project Manager of the GIZ Promotion of Green Economic Development Project opened the event by emphasizing that greening contributes to the competitiveness of MSMEs and technology is a powerful tool to do this. Mr Ric Torres, Jr of the Peace and Equity Foundation also mentioned that PEF has been supporting mobile APP competitions as this is a very effective venue to gather many solutions to business problems. The participants benefited from the expertise of the mentors and inputs on prototyping and minimum viable product (MVP) by Mr Allan Tan, founder and CEO of Ideyatech, Inc. and Board Member of the Philippine Software Industry Association. GreenOvation is a mobile APP competition aimed to address the challenge of creating mobile APPs that stimulate positive habits among MSMEs to efficiently use, better manage and sustain green innovations in: energy, materials, water, solid waste, transport, supplies and natural resource management.” This is promoted by ProGED, a project jointly implemented by the Governments of the Republic of the Philippines and Federal Republic of Germany via the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), respectively.
